U.S Exporters, Fall 2005 Tournament Champions

Sponsored by The Bungalow, Billiards & Brew Co.

Team Commentary and Reports:

Barry Hargreaves wrote: "Great job everyone... Way to bring home the championship. Great way to end the season. We played and beat all of the top teams in the tournament. There were a few weak teams that we didn't even see. Staying in the winner's bracket was huge."

Roger Morse wrote: "More Hardware...for the Bungalow Billiards Exporters! It took a second championship game, but the Exporters rose to the challenge and avenged their only loss of the tournament and beat the Dukes in the final game 20 - 10 to win by the slaughter rule. The Exporters are the 2005 Fall Tournament Champions."

Tom Meldrum wrote: "Pat Drury ran head first into the third base dugout fence pole [at Jennie Dean Field] during the second at-bat of the first game. He was running to back up an overthrow made by Barry Hargreaves from short, which ended up in The Dukes dugout. Pat broke his glasses and received a nasty cut over his left temple which bled profusely. I was prepared to go into the game, but he was able to stop the blood and recover enough to continue pitching."

Roger Morse wrote: "The 3pm game was against AMG Triple Threat. We were the ones that knocked them into the losers bracket. And you may also be interested to note that Kevin Niehaus fired a strike from right center field to Johnny Gulisano at the plate to catch none other than...Bill Shpiece! John had the plate blocked and Bill's slide ended up about 4 inches short of reaching the plate. AMG jumped out to a big lead in the first inning and then we basically shut them down...the final score was 22 - 13."

Barry Hargreaves wrote: "I loved watching the Dukes' hitters hit shots into left center, put their heads down rounding first thinking they had easy doubles, only to look up at Siri Carpien gliding under the ball and making the catch at the fence. The looks on their faces were priceless."
