"Jay,

"Ruth and I are in the process of planning a
new addition to our house this Fall, as well
as moving forward on our ideas to start a new
business (unrelated to the one I'm in now).
With those factors in mind, as well as my
slumping batting stats and corresponding
increased bench time, I've decided that it's
time for me to retire from the Exporters.

"I've had a tremendous amount of fun playing
for your team over the last 6 or so years, for
which I give you full credit. One would be hard
pressed to find a better coach in this league.
You seem to have a knack for finding guys who are
not just excellent players, but more importantly
they are genuinely good, honest people. Because
of that the camaraderie and integrity of the
Exporters is exceptional and it's what makes this
team special, something you rarely see on other
teams.

"I wish you and the Exporters the best of luck
this Fall and beyond! It's been a pleasure and
an honor.

Sincerely,
Erik Lundquist"

Erik, You made a big contribution to the success of this team, and you were one of our our most versatile ballplayers. I respect your decision, but it makes me sad to see "the old gang" we put together in the mid-90's moving along. I won't be far behind you, Erik. Jay Hatfield
