U.S. EXPORTERS ~ STARS & STRIPES COMBINE IN EARLY BIRD TOURNAMENT |
We then had an hour break before playing our third game at Jennie Dean against Pace, a team in the Traders' league, which we ten-runned. Unfortunately, during that game Barry Hargreaves split his scalp open backing into the fence in an attempt to catch a ball that dropped just over the fence. Barry came back later with four staples in his scalp, restricted from playing.
After another hour break, we were back at Barcroft, where we faced the Bashers, whom we had bashed Wednesday night. We bashed them again, and moved on to play the team we lost the second game to. This time we jumped out to a big lead, but then let them claw their way back, resulting in a three run loss by us. This meant we finished third in the tournament after playing five games, with everyone on our team exhausted.
Cudos to Brad Battista, Chris Boniface, Al Boyd, Dave Buttner, Lee Defibaugh, Andrew Kessler and Mike Mattoon for a great tournament on Saturday.
~ Q. Who would you select as the USX tournament MVP and the S&S tournament MVP? ~
A. John Callahan and Alan Boyd, although I could make an argument for Lee Defibaugh for playing shortstop.
