Team's Top Pitcher Enters The Hall
On July 8, 2002, team manager Jay Hatfield
announced the newest inductee into the U.S.
Exporters-Free Traders Hall of Fame. Pat
Drury is now recognized as one of the elite
on his team, and his famous number 85 will
never be worn by another member of the U.S.
Exporters/Free Traders teams.
It turned out to be one of the least contentious
HOF selections in many years, as the following
annonymous passages show:
The HOF Selection Committee Reports:
"Pat has my vote. A great leader. One of the
best control pitchers I've ever seen in my 22
years playing softball. Also, one of the most
consistent hitters." HOF01
"I nominate Pat Drury. Not only is he a hit
machine (his career AVG quite high), but as
everyone knows his pitching has been so key
to the team's success since he arrived.
Definitely the best pitcher we've had since
I've been with the team." HOF01
"Think I've gotta vote for Pat Drury." HOF00
I vote for Pat Drury...Pat has had the most
dramatic impact on the club.." HOF98
"I nominate Pat Drury. Good pitchers are hard
to find." HOF97
"I think that Pat Drury is overdue. He's been
a consistently high perfomer on the mound, at
the plate, and in the dugout." HOF98
"I...vote for Pat. His pitching, leadership
on the bench, fielding (often overlooked),
and unorthodox hitting make him a great team
and all around player." HOF00
Pat Replies
"I see that I've joined a grand fraternity!
Its truly an honor, as playing with and for
such a great bunch of guys has been over
these last 4 years!"--Pat Drury
Pat, it is our honor! Congratulations
and welcome to the Hall!
