U.S. EXPORTERS SPLIT WALK OFFS WITH BDNB

Dennis Potter
Dennis has found a new favorite umpire!

Roger Morse reporting:

We split with BDNB. They won the first game by one run in the bottom of the last inning by the score of 15-16. We returned the favor in the second game in the same fashion, 17-16.

The win in the second game was very dramatic. With time running out in the bottom of the last inning we were behind 16-11. The first two batters made outs. Kyle Dabruzzi then hit a ball to 3rd who was playing very deep on the grass. A wild throw put Kyle on second base. Kelvin Foreman singled him in. Jim Duffy and R.C. Wilson were walked.

With the bases loaded, Dennis Potter stepped in the box in front of his favorite umpire who questionably called him out on a double play in the previous at bat. The first two pitches were balls. On the next pitch the umpire called a strike drawing a glare from Dennis. He stepped out of the box to recompose himself. The next pitch Dennis fouled out of play down left field. With two outs, a full count and no courtesy, Dennis pulled the pitch on the ground down the third base line. Now this is where it gets interesting. Again, the third baseman was playing deep almost on the grass. He went after the ball and missed it as it passed him at least two feet into foul territory where he was. However, the umpire Dennis most reviled before that play now has become his favorite umpire declared the ball fair! Two runs scored.

With runners on first and second now, I took the plate. I was already 4 for 4 with 3 walks and a triple that night. I sent a ball into the right-center gap for another triple and tied the game. Drew Thompson then hit a nice single up the middle to score me and win the game!
