This little rig, the SG 2020, I think is the Tank of QRP rigs. It weighs in at about 4.5 lb., the outer shell is extruded aluminum, and outputs a maximum of 20+ watts CW/SSB. It has a current draw of 450-500mAh RX and max. of 5A on TX. Size is 6"w x 7"l x 2.75"h. The speaker is located on the top with an earphone jack in the rear.

The SGC 2020 comes with a few extras not usually found on a rig of this price; built-in Imabic B keyer, straight / keyer jacks, split/RIT/XIT, scanning saved memories or bands, DC volt meter, adjustable SCAF filters. Also settings of power, keyer speed, mode, filters can be saved with each of the 20 memory channels.

As to the SGC 2020's RX, the radio works well, though there can be a problem with strong signals ( AGC pumping ). Most of the time this condition can be improved by adjusting the RF gain vs Volume. In TX, the rig has always gotten great reports for SSB audio and CW is clean on my unit ( some early production units had chirpy tones ).

Having own mine since May of '98, I found it to be a great rig for the "picnic" type outings. It's a little to heavy to be backpacking ( with power supply ) but if I know I'll be near my car, I always bring it along. I usually run the 2020 off of  a 7Ah battery pack and power hasn't been a problem as I run less than 5 watts output. The rig is matched to my LDG QRP tuner and a 132 ft dipole with coax or ladder line.

It may not be the radio for a hard-line CW operator, but overall it's a good little rig.
