Removing and Re-creating the MacTCP Preferences Files
Procedure
- Close the MacTCP control panels if it's running
- Double-click on the hard dissk icon (
)
- Open the System Folder
- Find the file called "MacTCP DNR"
- Drag it to the Trash
- Open the Preferences Folder (It's in the System folder)
- Find the file named "MacTCP Prep"
- Drag it to the Trash
- Go to the "Special" menu bar and choose "Empty Trash"
- Close down all of the windows you just opened
- Go up to the
menu, choose "Control Panels" and bring up the "MacTCP". You will the screen shown below. (For some unknown reason, the MacTCP maintains the settings even when the preferences files have been deleted. However, it never hurts to check.)
- Click on the "More..." button. You'll see this:
As long as the settings match these, everything's fine. If they don't, make the necessary changes. Regardless, you should restart the computer.
