"Netscape's connection was refused by the server . Try connecting again later."
What it means
This is an easy one. Takes like 6 seconds to solve. All it means is that the server Netscape was trying to access is not accepting connections at the current time (if it ever does). What do you know! An error that actually means what it says!
Dealing with it
- First off verify that the URL that they're trying to get to is one you can get to. If you can get there (rare, but not unheard of), then
- Have the customer bring up Netscape (the program icon is in the Erol's Internet folder).
- After it finishes loading, it may try and dial. If so, just click on "Cancel" until it stops trying. You can then expect an errors such as "Netscape was unable to create a network socket connection..." or "Netscape was unable to locate the host..." to appear. Just click on "OK" or "Cancel" (whichever is there) to get rid of it.
- Click on the "Options" menu bar and choose "Network Preferences..."
- Click on "Proxies". You'll see something like this:
- Chances are the "Manual Proxy Configuration" box is checked. Uncheck it.
Now that wasn't so painful, was it?
