(3) ROBERT LEEPER A BROTHER TO IMMIGRANT JAMES LEEPER AND UNCLE TO NICHOLAS AND JAMES LEEPER Year 1742, Robert Leeper's name appears on the militia of Capt John Smith's Company Page 34 Book 2 Robert Leeper - A memorial for 325 acres of land in Mecklenburg County, N.C. on the north side of Catawba River at Mill Creek was certified February 25, 1767 by Governor Tryon or N.C, for me and also 800 acres of land on the south side ofCatawba River 'Wateree. S.C.' May have been the Broad River below the Forks at the mouth of said river and granted to me August 30, 1753 by Matthew Rowan Lt. Govenor of N.C. but now a state line has been located there, and these lands are found to be in S.C.. A tax return was made in Charleston, S.C. December 11, 1772 by Robert Leeper in person. Conclusion- Josuah Leeper was in old upper Beaufort county by 1753. by 1771 Robert Leeper was in York county by 1753 but thought himself to be in N.C. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unable to locate Robert Leeper in the 1790 census but there is a will record of Robert Leeper dated April 13, 1795 WILL 'no date' in York South Carolina Four children are listed Robert Leeper Jr. Eldest daughter Cathrine Leeper Blanche Leeper and she EX with William McLean of Lincoln County , North Carolina John Leeper my eldest son, I give the lands in Lincoln County and York County, South Carolina. both are mentioned. Since John Leeper my son and daughter Blanche Leeper have never married9 if they wish to retain the home plantation and slaves to- gether. That is permissible providing they live in the home together, otherwise they may divide the plantation.
