The Bible containing the original of
these records has been in the possession
of McCord families of Mec(k)lenburg County,
North Carolina, since about the year 1879.

   First records were written in 1824 by
John Dow who was born in Scotland in 1759.

                   FAMILY RECORDS

I John Dow was Born in the Kingdom of Scotland   my
fathers name was David Dow a natave of Pearth Share
Scotland  my Mothers name was Mar(a)y Wallace  a natave
of Are Shire and a descendant from the Famely of Sir
William Wallace  knight of Ealdersle in hestory com-
monly called the Scottish chief
I had when I left my nateve county Sex Sesters and
two Brothers viz Elezabatth, Geen, Gannat, Margrat,
Maray, and Isabella  Elezabath was the oldest of us
all my salf the next Isabella was the youngest daugh-
ter of my parants my oldest Brothers name was William
my younger Brother was named James and the youngest
child of My Father and mothers Famely,
I was born in Lenreck Shire about four miles to the
North East of the city of Glasgow in the year of our
lord 1759 in the nintenth year of my age I was by my
parents Bound to the Occopation of a hous joiner and
caban(n)ate maker and leved with my master Sex years
peceably and Respacted in the famely to whech I was
Bound
having a desire to travile I left my nateve Shore one
the 12th day of Feburuary 1787 aboard of the Ship
Bretos Queen Captan McCaul master landed at Welmong-
ton North Carolina from Welmangton I came to Fayattvil
where I folloud my calling of house carpentar and
marrad in that place in the year of our lord 1789
when you turn over you will see the age and names of
my own children
the above is Recorded thes 20th day of July 1824 in
the 66 year of my age
