Tuffy's biggest role by far was in the Universal Pictures production The Mighty Treve. He played the title role in this movie, which was based on a novel, Treve, by Albert Payson Terhune. Terhune was a prolific author of novels about dogs and is perhaps most famous for his Lad series.
The male lead in the movie was played by a very young Noah Beery Jr. Viewers may better remember Beery for his role as "Rocky" on the 1970s television show "The Rockford Files." In that series, he played the father of James Garner's character, Jim Rockford.
The female lead was played by Barbara Read, who appeared in many films of the day.
Several years after Tuffy died, Ger trained a puppy that he named Treve in honor of Tuffy's greatest role. Treve never appeared in movies but made many stage appearances. Treve outlived Ger by a number of years.
