The newest challenge is to address the Learning Style needs of online students now and in the future. This discussion was created for CSUH EDUI 6703, Summer 2002. I'll keep it open as long as it's in use.

Classroom Management - When I asked our Elementary Coordinator what online course I could develop for the coming school year that would meet needs that she can identify. She suggested a course in Classroom Management for new teachers. The above links to the course as it is so far. The course will be developed during 6703 and 6704.

3003 Famous Americans - This course teaches American History by studying the lives of  Famous Americans. An illustrated lesson is provided for each Famous American, as are links, assignments, and a quiz. You will have to sign-in to view all of the course. The course is free. The course was started prior to beginning the CSUH program. It was accepted and published the same week that CSUH EDUI 6701 started. It's my "learning place" as I complete these CSUH courses.

Introduction to Web Building for Classroom Teachers - This course will help teachers learn to make their own website at their own pace and convenience. The course is intended to take eight weeks to complete. Testing will give more details.  The course is designed for use with the Dinwiddie teachers in the coming year, with the say so of the administration.

Links to my educational websites.

Mrs. P's Links - This site contains pages of links to a variety of educational content collected for the primary students at Southside Elementary School. The site provides links by subject area. This site serves as the homepage on the computers at Southside, so it includes links to resources which have been subscribed to by Dinwiddie County Public Schools.

Famous Americans - This site contains the original content developed  to meet some Virginia History SOLs for elementary students. The site includes pages to Famous Americans studied by primary student and by upper elementary students. The site links to pages that include a 4-6 line summary and a set of links about each Famous American studied by Virginia primary students. Longer biographies for upper elementary students are under development for each Famous American. In addition to the Famous Americans on the Virginia SOLs, the site includes links to other Famous American categories including Famous African-Americans, Famous Women, Famous Virginians, Famous Native Americans, and Other Famous Americans. The site also includes quizzes for each grade level K-2 to identify the Famous Americans they studied this year.

The President's Scrapbook - This site is a webquest to create The President's Scrapbook in Powerpoint. In this webquest, students review the Famous Americans they studied this year, choose a favorite, and express their reason for their choice in their own slide in the Powerpoint Scrapbook. A template Scrapbook can be downloaded from the site.

Children's Economics - This course is in the early stages of construction. The site is experimenting with short, animated powerpoint presentations to teach basic economic concepts to primary students to meet the Virginia History SOLs on Economics for elementary students. The quizzes for this course are listed above.
