There are a variety of things one can do on the beach at Bavon. One can sit and sip a favorite beverage, or splash about in the surf as the tide goes in or goes out, walk around and visit the handful of neighbors who are sitting on the beach, or walk the beach. It'll take about an hour or more to go in either direction as far as you can go. If you walk north, you will see by the beautiful homes on Chesapeake Shores. If you walk south, you pass the dunes that hide most of the Bavon Beach cottages. Then you will round Grassy Point, walk on beach and grasslants until within sight of the lighthouse, and continue along the wildlife preserve to the end of land. From the point you can see the Island, and the lighthouse beyond. At one time, the lighthouse could be reached by land, but many years ago storms in the Bay separated New Point from it's lighthouse. The lighhouse has been out of operation for several years.
