Summer Camp

Summer Camp at Wien is a continuation of our overall educational philosophy. There is a greater emphasis on doing, experiencing, creating and exploring. The perennial theme is "It's a Wonderful World." Weekly activites are organized to explore, experience or learn about the Wonderful World of: Science and Technology; Nature and the Environment; Fantsy and Creative Expression; Literature; and, Sports, Recreation and Leisure.
World of Science and Technology:  Campers will develop and improve computer literacy (keyboarding, language). Enhancing basic skills through mastery of educational software packages as well as exploring through simple experimentation using basic principles of physical science.
World of Nature and the Environment:  Campers explore this Northern Virginia habitats, flora, fauna, and animal life. Increasing each campers knowledge about the need to conserve and the need to protect endangered species are some of the informational goals.
World of Fantasy and Creative Expression:  Using the performing arts such as drama, dance, drawing, painting, sculpting, and crafts, campers will be encouraged to use their imagination and creativity. Performances and exhibitions will be held for parents and friends.
World Of Literature:  Campers will open the doors to new worlds and discoveries through reading. Regular library trips and focused reading will introduce campers to different styles of wrting as well as muti-cultural literature. Campers will also learn more about the Farifax County Library System.
World of Sports, Recreation, and Leisure:  Having fun, relaxing and acquiring new game skills is the core of this "world". Campers (over 4 years) will be encouraged to develop and improve their swimming skills and just swim along with other forms of outdoor games. Helping kids cope with stress through exercise and activities are also part of their world.
