St.
Jude's Parish Organizations
Parish
Council:
Leaders
from each of the Parish organizations, elected area representatives,
the Pastor and the school principal are members of the Parish Council
(Parish Advisory Team).
Holy
Name Society:
A
Catholic men's organization whose Christian mission is to honor the
name of Jesus Christ by performing various charitable functions within
the Parish.
Sodality:
A
strong sisterhood of women who share prayers fostering a devotion
to the Blessed Mother. The Sodality has adopted as its' mission: spiritual
development, service to the church and community, and fund raising
activity for special parish needs.
St.
Vincent dePaul:
Members
assist the financially distressed or those with very special needs
within the Parish.
Home
and School Association:
An
elected board that maintains a close relationship between parents,
school faculty and the clergy.
Athletic
Association:
Organizes
and supports athletic programs for all parish children. Everyone who
comes to play, will play. The A.A. fields teams in football, soccer,
basketball, softball, baseball, track and cheerleading.
Teen
Club:
The
teen club provides spiritual, social and recreational activities for
all the young parishioners seventh through twelfth grade.
Young
Adults (Journiers) :
An
inter-parish group of Catholics, ages 22 and older, who meet for spiritual,
recreational and community service activities.
Toastmasters:
In
early 1980, a few members of the St. Jude Catholic Church explored
the possibility of a Toastmaster club to assist parishioners in their
public speaking and lectoring skills. In June 1981 the club was chartered.
St.
Jude Toastmasters meets at the Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church
[12701 Veirs Mill Road] at 7:30pm on the Second and Fourth Wednesday
of each month. We are a diverse community club with both experienced
and new Toastmaster members. Our Club Officers are ready and waiting
to give you practical communication and leadership skills.
As
a member club of Toastmasters International, several events are held
for members and non-members. Please visit our website frequently for

Legion
of Mary:
A
local chapter of a worldwide organization devoted to evangelization.
RCIA
Team:
An
organization which provides Spiritual and Educational preparation
programs for people who are interested in reception into the church.
Unbaptized adults and those previously baptized are welcome.
Right
to Life:
A
committee, open to all parishoners, which participates in all area
pro-life activities.
Leisure
Club:
Provides
opportunities to travel and to socialize for parishioners who have
achieved daytime leisure. A welcome to all.
Music
Ministry:
The
Music Ministry provides all musical support for parish liturgies.
This includes: organ, piano, cantors, adult and children's choirs,
adult and youth handbells, and instrumentalists.
Religious
Education/CCD:
The
CCD Program is dedicated to providing religious education to the youth
of our Parish. Classes are open to children from preschool to 12th
grade.
Ushers:
The
ushers welcome arriving worshipers, assist in seating, take the collection,
distribute bulletins, and help in emergencies.
Garden
Club:
These
expert volunteers are responsible for our award winning gardens.
Altar
Servers:
Boys
and girls (sixth grade and up) are eligible to assist at Mass and
all other liturgical celebrations.
Marriage
Prep:
This
parish organization helps to prepare engaged couples for the sacrament
of Matrimony.
Evangelization/Adult
Education:
The
Evangelization/Adult Education program is designed to enrich the spiritual
development of the Parish's adult community.
Eucharistic
Ministers:
Selected
laymen and women assist with the distribution of the Eucharist at
Mass and they bring the Sacrament to the sick and infirm in the home,
hospital and nursing home.
Parish
Library:
Provides
Catholic reading and audio-visual materials for the parish.
