Welcome to the health and medical facility. Each half of the habitat should have an area specifically for maintaining the crew health. This single section is a standard sixteen (16) foot outside diameter with six (6) inch thick walls (fifteen (15) foot inside diameter). It is designed to convert to an operating suite and can be used for other tasks. The center can be used for exercise, to perform dental needs and routine health testing. This is part of a working area that is normally isolated by pressure walls from the living/social area of the craft.
There is a biological hood for performing isolated testing with volatile chemicals and biological hazardous materials. The hood recycles air through a High Efficiency Particle (HEPA) filter. It has
hot and cold water, vacuum outlet to space for dumping toxins, a heater and cooler and a choice of several gasses used for testing. There are storage cabinets for chemicals and equipment. A small sink allows equipment and recycling water to minimize the trash accumulation for a long assignment. There is an autoclave to sterilize medical equipment located near the hood. This room also has a foldable medical table and exercise equipment that can be stored until needed. A passage on the left leads to a wash room, passage on the right leads to the utility room. The work area passes through an air lock to the utility room.
Water is supplied from a storage container in the upper portion with the water recovery system (
wastewater) collection in the lower portion of this area. The water circulation system may be required when the habitat is not rotating.|

Technical data: The atmosphere is air standard content though less nitrogen is expected, temperature is 72 F and humidity is 50% typically, Lighting for moderate laboratory work = 75 to 100 (variable) lm/ft2, Lighting for emergency operations = 100 lm/ft2, Hall/room lighting = 30 lm/ft2, 900 BTU/man-hr. for moderate active work.
