Bird Hunting

General

The hunting season in the preserve, with the exception of waterfowl, starts on September 1st and ends on April 30th.

Licenses for waterfowl, chukar, quail and pheasant can be purchased from many stores that carry sporting goods for hunting and fishing.

Waterfowl stamps and licenses are purchased separately. After obtaining your license, you need to call Virginia wildlife to obtain the HIP number and follow their instructions.

The calendar for goose and duck hunting is published for specific species. Reviewing this information prior to arranging for a guided hunt will be helpful.

For more information about  hunting regulations, you may contact the Virginia Department of Games and Inland Fisheries at their website. Please contacts us for additional information about our hunting guidelines.

Hunting

During the hunting season we provide a guided hunt in the state of Virginia and on the preserve. It is a good time to practice your dog after passing the basic and the advanced training.

During the waterfowl season, see Virginia Wildlife hunting calendar, we provide

complete service that includes trained labs, camouflaged boat and blinds on and out of the preserve. Our pointing dogs are available for pheasant, quail and chukar or you may prefer to use your dog.

We provide a half day, normally 3 hours, for hunting on the preserve. You  need to contact us in advance for reservations and details.
