Training and Breeding

We have a systematic approach of training that will get you and your  family involved in all training phases in our kennel, but we would like to invite you to see our students performing in the preserve.

During your visit, you may want to discuss your training need or consider having one of our puppies if they are available.  Our training is conducted in a real hunting environment in the preserve.  We start with the basic training that includes heel, whoa and other commands.  More advanced training of retrieving from the land and water, steady on the wing and the fly are introduced after completing the basic training.  We can tailor our training to meet your specific need.  You and your family will be involved in all training phases.  We have two programs you may choose from.  Either we do all the training and leave the dog in our kennel or you may want  to customize a few sessions to fit your need and take your dog home with you after the session.

Bird dog training is complemented by a real hunting environment in our preserve.  They will be trained to point and find quail, pheasant, chukar and waterfowl.

Selective breeding of bird dogs is critical in maintaining their hunting instincts.  We breed a very limited number of Labs, Brittanys and German Shorthair Pointers  from selected hunting dogs. Due to the limited number of puppies, we recommend that you discuss your particular needs with us in advance for availability.

We will provide you with information and orientation on how to care for a puppy and what is the appropriate age to start the basic training. Our pups are special to us and we expect they will be very special part of your family.

Each breed of bird dogs has a special personality and characteristics. Their training must be tailored according to these characteristics.  Labs are natural water dogs and their training is different from the German Shorthair Pointer. Brittanys are also special.  They are smaller than the labs and pointers, but they excel in land and water.  Our approach to breeding is to bring the best qualities of each breed. Before you make the decision to have a puppy, we suggest that you fit the specific breed to your type of hunting and life style.
