3. Ambrose2 Fowler (William1)(28) was born in England.(29) Ambrose died 18 October 1704 in Wetfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts, at age unknown.

He married Joan (Jane) Alvord 6 May 1646 in Windsor, Hartford Co., Connecticut.(30) Joan died 22 May 1684 in Wetfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts, at age unknown.(31) There is considerable evidence that Ambrose was the son of William Fowler, the magistrate of New Haven. He appeared at Windsor as early as 1640, where he was one of Rev. John Warham's church, who came from Dorcester, Massachusetts, and located there in 1636. He was one of a committee in 1641, Hartford Colony, to settle the bounds of Uncoway and Poquonnuck. His name is often found in the records of Windsor. He sells land at Windsor, 1671, soon after which date he removed and settled with his children at Westfield, Massachusetts. In 1675, there is a notice of the burning of "Mr. Ambrose Fowler's house and barn" at Windsor. He made his will, 1692, proved, 1706, in which he names seven children, all recorded at Windsor.
