20. Alfred3 Dutton (Stephen Coffin2, Thomas1) was born in Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts 7 February 1815.(134) (According to the 1870 census, his birth year was 1817.) Alfred died 30 November 1870 in Sulphur Bluffs, Hopkins Co., Texas, at age 55.(135)

He married twice. He married Eliza Dyer before 1852 in Texas.(136) Eliza was born about 1828 in Indiana.(137) (On the 1860 census, her age was given as 32, and birthplace Indiana.)

He married Mrs. Malvina Stephenson 25 June 1863 in Texas.(138) They were married in Hopkins County.

Malvina was born about 1830 in Louisiana. (On the 1870 census, her age was recorded as 40 years.) Alfred attended Amherst College from 1837 to 1839, and graduated from Bowdoin in 1842. Practiced law in Manchester and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He moved to Texas before 1850, where he taught school.

Alfred Dutton and Eliza Dyer had the following children:
