Sarah Norton4 Dutton (Benjamin3, Benjamin2, Thomas1) was born in Newburyport, Essex Co., Massachusetts 22 May 1847.(429) Sarah died after 1910 probably in Newburyport, Essex Co., Massachusetts, at age unknown. She died as the wife of Samuel Brookings, Jr. She was listed on the 1910 census. On the 1920 census, Samuel was living with a housekeeper.

She married twice. She married Alfred Berney 18 May 1865 in Charlestown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. Alfred was listed as a merchant from Jersey City, New Jersey. Sarah was living in Charlestown. It was Alfred's second marriage, Sarah's first.

Mr. Berney was born about 1835 in Portsmouth, Rockingham Co., New Hampshire.(430) Age given as 30 at time of marriage. On the 1870 census, there was a William Berney, age 74, living with Alfred and Sarah. He was perhaps the father of Alfred. He was the son of William Berney.

She married Samuel Brookings Jr. 13 January 1891 probably in Newburyport, Essex Co., Massachusetts.(431) Samuel was born 24 August 1841 in Newbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts.(432) He was the son of Samuel Brookings and Elizabeth Little.

Sarah Norton Dutton and Alfred Berney had the following child:
