WHAT IS NEKITE?
NEKITE (pronounced ANY-KITE) is a regional email list for New England area kite flyers. Participants post a message, or reply to a previously posted message by sending it to a specific address. A computer receives the message and auto matically forwards it to everyone currently on the list. This usually takes only a few minutes to happen.
WHY IS NEKITE HERE?
FIRST:
To replace the KLONE (Kite Lovers Of New England) Calendar of kiting events. The Calendar was a physical (paper) publication. As such, there was a certain `lead time' involved in getting something published in its pages. If people don't know of a kiting event, they can't show up! Also, the KLONE Calendar is dead now. The folks who had taken on the job, have found it impossible to continue. Without a printed calendar, it is much more important to get the word out about kiting events any way we can. I realize that not everyone has access to NEKITE, but many do! Those of us who are here, can tell others what they read here either on the flying field or by phone call. It is better to get the word out to some than no one!
SECOND:
To discuss things of interest to kite flyers in New England. This includes, but is not limited to, asking questions on the latest kite/equipment/technique ... where to find a place to fly ... finding car pool partners to ride to a fly with you ... and so on.
NOTE:
There are few rules on NEkite. The main rule is there is
NO commercial advertisements.
You can sell personal items, but if you are a business you cannot advertise. Most of us on the list already know who sells what anyway.
Additionally this list is not limited to folks in New England. We have members from around the world.
ADDITIONAL NOTE
: Many (if not most) folks on this list also belong to
Kites Over New England
, and often discuss matters relating to that kite club .. but this list has
no official connection to that club
