I have been collecting antique radios for many years. I still remember the confusion figuring out how to repair and restore these early sets. The intent of this page is to help newcomers (or anyone else) find information on antique radios. Periodically (as my time allows) information on a relatively common early radio will be available for download. Please drop me a line if you find this page useful.

Documents are in html format. Just click on the link. All text and graphics will be present but may be in a different text and page format from the original. This makes my work with the OCR software a little easier. If you save it to your hard drive, remember to save the image files into the same directory,.
Note: Most documents can also be downloaded in Microsoft Word 97 format. If you use Wordpad to view and print these files, the side margins may need to be reset for viewing and printing. In addition these files are downloaded in compressed (zip) format.
The information I am making available can be freely passed around to collectors. If you provide this information to other collectors, please do not charge any fees. Feel free to email me if you need help with the above.

The Crosley 51 was advertised from February 1924 through early 1926. Due to the low price and reasonable performance, many were sold. It is one of the more common early radios, with a relatively large number still surviving. Many different versions were made from the early one (above) with a tap switch on the top of the panel to the later productions where it was moved to the bottom. There was even one with a wood front panel. Portable and fancy slope front cabinets were among the other variations. A single tube 51A matching amplifiers was also available.
Here is a list of Crosley 51 literature and service data available from this site :

Past Featured Radios
I am willing to email any schematic from Riders Volumes 1-3. I have these volumes in notebooks. I can't make this offer on radios manufactured after 1934. It is too much work to take apart the Riders manuals to get a good copy. Battery sets, cathedrals, tombstones, and consoles on legs will likely be in these volumes. In addition I have some information on 20s radios not in Riders. Feel free to email and ask if I have any additional information on a 20s battery radio or very early (pre 1934) AC sets.
There is a restriction on the above. Please ask only for data on radios you are currently restoring. If requests overwhelm me, I may not be able to continue to provide this service.
