The following edition of La Bas, itself a work of black magic, is associated with two infamous Englishmen who were also works of nefarious ill intents. The publisher of Fortune Press, Reginald Adhley Caton, and his pal Father (self styled) Montaque Summers carried about them "the odor of sorcery and sodomy..(the scent) of which was too heady for British authorities of the 1930's who prosecuted Caton for obscene libel." It is, therefore, most appropriate that the two of them were responsible for publishing this edition of La Bas, which foreshadowing as it does Ecco's works, conjures up the devil and his assorted following of incubuses.
