LOGGING ON TO THE NETWORK
FOR DOS/WIN3.1 APPLICATIONS
(K205 / K204 / K105 / K104 / K102)
Note: Throughout these instructions, whenever you see <ENTER>, it means you should press the Enter Key.
LOGGING ON - K205
1) Turn on the computer and the monitor. A Microsoft Windows 95 Startup Menu will eventually appear.
2) Choose option 2 from this menu - Login to Network. The screen will clear and some messages will be displayed, the last of which will be a prompt which asks you to enter your login name.
3) Enter the Login Name that was supplied to you by your instructor,(i.e., .cobol01.cis.div3) followed by the Enter Key. (No spaces, be sure to put a period in before the acutaul login name and be sure to use the digit zero not the letter o. )
A Password prompt should then be displayed.
4) Enter your password, followed by the Enter key. Your password will not be displayed as you type. This is for security reasons.
If you have correctly logged in, you should see the following prompt:
F:\>
If you incorrectly enter either the Login Name or the Password, a message indicating that you were denied access to the server will be displayed. If this happens, simply type the word LOGIN, press the Enter Key and return to step 3 above and try again.
LOGGING ON - K204 and 10 IBMs in K102
1) Turn on the Computer and the monitor. A BCC Menu will eventually appear. Option N on this menu allows you to Login to the Network.
2) Choose Option N. Login to Network by typing the following:
N <ENTER>
The screen will clear and some messages will be displayed, the last of which will be a prompt which asks you to enter your login name.
3) Enter the Login Name that was supplied to you by your instructor and then press the Enter Key. (i.e., .cobol01.cis.div3) (No spaces, be sure to put a period in before the acutaul login name and be sure to use the digit zero not the letter o. )
A Password prompt should then be displayed.
4) Enter your password, followed by the Enter key. Your password will not be displayed as you type. This is for security reasons.
If you have correctly logged in, you should see the following prompt:
F:\>
If you incorrectly enter either the Login Name or the Password, a message indicating that you were denied access to the server will be displayed. If this happens, simply return to step 2 above and try again. (Note: When returning to step 2, the BCC menu does not have to be displayed on the screen.)
LOGGING ON - K105/K104 and 20 NPC PCs in K102
1) Turn on the computer and the monitor. A Microsoft Windows 95 Startup Menu will eventually appear.
2) Choose option 8 from this menu - Previous Version of DOS. (On some PCs this might be option 7) Another menu will appear.
3) If you are in K102 continue from LOGGING ON K204 and 10 IBMS in K102 step #2,
else choose option 1 from this menu - Boot with VLMs to K205 (In K104).

4) The screen will clear and some messages will be displayed, the last of which will be a prompt which asks you to enter your login name.
5) Continue with step 3 in the above instructions for K205.
CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD
The first thing that you should do after logging on for the first time is change your password. (This does not have to be done every time you use the system - just the first time!)
To Change your password type the following at the F:\> prompt:
SETPASS <ENTER>
You will be asked to enter your existing password before you're allowed to make the change. (Your existing password is referred to as your old password.) Upon correct entry of the old password, you will be prompted (twice) to enter a new password.
Upon completion, a message will be displayed indicating whether the attempt to change your password was successful. Be sure to read all system messages.
RUNNING WINDOWS
To run Windows 3.1, simply type the following at the F:\> prompt:
WIN <ENTER>
This will provide you access to the program Icon that you want to run. Double click on the icon to run the program.
RUNNING DOS APPLICATIONS
To run Dos based programs you just have to enter the name of the executable file at the F:> prompt.

LOGGING OUT
After exiting a program and before turning off your computer, you must log out of the system. To do this, type the following at the F:\> prompt:
