How to Make the Most of Your Winter Escape

This contains both things you really need to do, and helpful advice or making the most of your trip. After Registering: Mandatory:   Read all of this page! I know it's not exciting, but you're spending your hard earned money and holiday weekend on the trip - another few minutes will ensure that you don't let anyone down by missing a commitment, and will also provide good ideas for making the most of your weekend away. Optional, but really encouraged!:   Sign up for the winter-escape email listserv. The Big Email and the web pages it references should be all you need to know, but the listserv will keep you up to date on things like excusions into the outdoors and activities in the houses. You can update your settings on the signup page Mandatory:   If this is your first time, browse through the web page to get a basic feel for the trip. Mandatory:   Use the den parents! If you have questions, fire away! They're here to help! Really! They're very helpful people! Optional:   Check out the people on the registration list. If there are people you'd like to see on the trip who aren't on the list, consider letting 'em know!

After the Big Email:

• Mandatory:   Read the whole Big Email!
  Again, not exciting, but worth doing!
  
  
• Mandatory:   If you're making dinner, create a menu (or description) and send it to the Food Czar ASAP.
  
  
• Mandatory:   Check out the house assignments, make sure yours is OK with you.
  We'd much rather hear of problems earlier than later! If you see a problem, contact your den parent.
  
  
• Optional:   If you plan to make an excursion into the outdoors like skiing or tubing, consider leading it!
  It's much easier to organize these before the trip!
  You can pick the people you want to go with you, or open it up to the people in your house, or open it up to everyone on the trip (and you can limit the number of people). If you open it up to your house, let your den parents know - they'll be able to help! If you open it up to the trip, let the Outdoor Activities organizer know - he'll be able to help!
  
  
• Optional:   If you are interested in an activity to do in the houses, consider leading it!
  You can pick the people you want to do it with, or open it up to the people in your house, or open it up to everyone on the trip (and you can limit the number of people). If you open it up to your house, let your den parents know - they'll be able to help! If you open it up to the trip, let the Indoor Activities co-ordinator know - they'll be able to help!
  
  
• Mandatory:    If you need a ride, use the ride information in the Big Email to find it.
  Sorry, we don't do that for you - it's just too difficult, and much easier for people to work it out themselves.
  However, we can help - contact your den parents if you want help.
  
  
• Mandatory:    Send in your payment.
  Payment information can be found here. In addition, some time after the Big Email, the registrar will send a financial summary to each person, including amount owed. If you have other questions, feel free to email the registrar.
  
  
• Mandatory:   Email your den parents if you have any questions!
  
  

One Week Before the Trip:

• Mandatory:   Purchase the food or supplies you've been assigned
  
  

While On the Trip:

• Mandatory:   Respect!
  Please be conscious of and respect the other people in your house and on the trip! We're all there to have a good time, but be cognizant of the affect what you're doing has on other people, and if it's a negative effect, remember that there's plenty of fun to be had and do something that doesn't hurt someone else's good time!
  
  
• Mandatory:   Use the den parents!
  If you want to do something that will affect everyone in the house, clear it with the den parents first.
  If you have a problem, remember that the den parents are here to help and use them!
  
  
• Mandatory:   Prepare the meal you've been assigned. Clean up the meal you've been assigned
  
  
• Optional:   Mingle! Check out the other houses, meet new people!
  
  
• Mandatory:   Have fun!
