2008 House Assignments Up

We have new houses this year!

The houses are much closer together than last year's houses, and should not have any problem with snow on the roads. These are the houses: * Duobunk & Twin. Duobunk is a bunk bed where the bottom is a double, but we only assign one person to the top & one to the bottom

Here's a spiffy interactive googlemap that shows all the houses, as well as local businesses & parks. Thanks Lloyd!
Here's a basic map of the houses for folks who can't do spiffy.

House Descriptions

Each set of den parents will run their house a little differently - each house will have a different atmosphere/theme and different rules for things like late night activities. These are listed below, and you'll specify your first, second and third choices on the registration form, and this will determine which house you'll be in!

Young Adult House:
Lakeside Vista
Planning Committee: ya-winter-escape@googlegroups.com

The Young Adult house will host an intentional community of 18 to 35 year olds. We'll have young adult centered activities and spiritual exploration in the interconnectedness of all things. Many folks will either spend the daytime skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, or hiking nearby, but there will be something going on back at the house for those that want warm indoor fun. We'll do meals so that all will have their needs met. This may include brunch, sack lunch and dinners of veggie friendly food.

Activities: Yoga, cookie baking, fun board games, and anything else we can dream up.
Pets: We're a no pet house.
Late Night Policy: We'll stay up late although we respect those that enjoy copious amounts of sleep.
Dinners: In order to promote YA community, we'll be having dinner in the YA house instead of us all signing up for dinners in possibly different houses.

Games House: Terrapin Station
Den Parents: Becky R & Ken S

A fun, friendly, relaxed house where we will have and will play some board games.

Activities: This will be a games house, where you're likely to find various board games going on whenever you stop by (click here for the FX games page). Other than that, we're middle of the road: not too quiet, but not too much partying. Reading, chatting, cooking, hot-tubbing and other mainstream activities.
Pets: A dog house with the sweetest old mutt you've ever met. She's quiet but friendly, and we like to make sure she gets along with your dog before the trip.
Late night: Some games go late, and sometimes they get a teeny bit noisy. For the most part, this house will be relatively quiet after midnight.
Hot tub: Middle of the road again: don't overload the hot tub, and don't assume others will be OK if you take off your clothes (ask first!).

Occupants:
Becky R & Ken S & Casey the dog
QLiz C, Mary K
QPeter D & Shawnee H & Sidney the dog
QSandy A, Jeanne S
QJen S & Larry L

Late Night Party House: Crosswinds
Den Parents: Greg McF & Melissa R

This is the "late night party" house where people are welcome to come when the evening social is over. If you want to stay up, dance, chat, hot tub, etc, this is where late-late night and early morning activity is welcome.
We will have space available for people to have activities in various parts of the house. This is a house where fun and noise is allowed all night long. So if you know you will want to have a totally quiet retreat in the evenings, this may not be your best option.

Activities: All night hot tub, all night music and dancing, all night hanging out, early morning breakfast, and all day sleeping!
Pets: We're a no pet house.
Late Night Policy: All night long, baby!
Day after Party Policy: Quiet activities only, please. People will be sleeping!
Some more details: Hot tub - nudity allowed; limit on the number of people in tub at one time
Noise: As long as the noise stays indoors, all-night noise is OK. However, we must be cognizant of the possible impacts on neighboring houses. This especially affects the outdoors hot tub area.
Early morning breakfast: Greg will make breakfast for all the late night party goers still awake past 3AM.
Music: bring your favorite Cd's, and we'll take turns playing them. Loud music is welcome as long as there are people still dancing / partying

Quiet House: 180 Degrees
Den Parent: Ali D

Our house will be quiet and peaceful, we go to other houses to party and be loud. Think friendly, homey, relaxing, quirky and creative.

Activites: We'll be doing crafts for sure, so we might get a little messy with that. Ali spends all day Saturday cooking for the Sat night dinner which is the biggest activity of the weekend in this house.
Pets: It's a dog house with at least one friendly, scruffy old terrier who loves to sit on the couch with visitors and residents, and he'll steal any unguarded food too (so watch it)
Late night: Stay up late if you like with quiet activities.
Hot tub: Just a few at a time in the hot tub with our suits on here

Occupants:
KAli D & Mark D & The Boo the dog
KAndrea R & Scott J & Athena the dog
QLiz W & Mike E
QSS Rachel P, Gina G

Social House: Quality Time
Den Parents: Robbie S & Robin K

We're a laid-back place for people who want to relax in the company of others. We'll have some social activities geared towards enjoying each other's company.

Activities: We would love for people to bring what they have - movies, games, music ... maybe DDR? - to share with the house, and also open it up to other houses. If we have a foosball or pool table, we will have a tournament, complete with trophy WORTHY of UU escapees.
Pets: It's a dog house with one very friendly miniature poodle who loves attention.
Late night: Staying up late is cool with us. Turn down the noise in the wee hours.
Hot tub: Suits required. If you overflow, please refill.

The house will have one couple and their 1 year old son, another couple and their 4-month old daughter, and 3 folks from the waiting list.

All the adults in the house are looking forward to the trip and seeing people and being a part of the community! (The little ones... pretty much going with the flow...) Activities for the house are already in the works.
