After witnessing the superheterodyne demonstration, Sarnoff's Research Department is told to study the apparatus and report their findings.


From his boyhood climbs up his 125 foot backyard antenna tower, to his hours spent on his 425 foot Alpine transmitting tower in his later years, Armstrong had always loved heights. On May 15, 1923, opening day of RCA's Radio Broadcast Central (Stations WJY and WJZ at Aeolian Hall in NYC) Armstrong couldn't resist expressing himself. Sarnoff subsequently issued an order making the towers off limits.
