Before RCA handed over the cash payment and stock for the superregenerative invention there was one hitch, a British inventor by the name of John Bolitho. Bolitho owned the only patent which might interfere with Armstrong's patent, and RCA tried to find him first. The search was on and Armstrong's law firm found him first - living in the Sudan - and were able to purchase exclusive rights to his invention.
