A POWERFUL NEW IDEA BY ZECHARIA SITCHIN

From time to time in the course of human history a revolutionary idea is proposed that makes wonderful sense of a great deal of hitherto amorphous and anecdotal material. The amorphous data, apart from the new, cohering idea, has few connective elements. If the new idea challenges either the belief structure of the readers or threatens the power of the ruling elite, the idea is likely to have to await acceptance until more favorable circumstances prevail.
Unfortunately, in the record of human history, very challenging ideas are often perceived as threatening and are, in their turn, met with overwhelming challenges. For a while they are swept into oblivion. This is especially true if the new idea is contrary to expectation and following the idea to its logical conclusion would cause societal rearrangements. In those circumstances, there are, broadly, two reactions. The first reaction is that of the powerful or ruling elite whose authority is threatened by the idea. The historical record tells us that the powerful, in that case will ridicule the concept and then vilify the originator of the idea. The second reaction is usually that of the cognoscenti and subtler thinkers. They appraise the idea cautiously for logical flaws and compatibility with reality and if those tests are passed, they will carefully accept the idea as truth, perhaps setting and running new tests if the idea permits such an approach at the time frame of the idea.

PREFACE: In spite of the serious-sounding nature of the following material, I hope you will keep a smile on your face and realize that we are dealing with the results of new research. It is my hope that you will pick up your own germs of truth from what follows. I am here emphasizing the writings of Zecharia Sitchin, not because he was first to draw many of the conclusions that are presented but because I myself had dismissed the earlier writings of von Daniken and Velikovsky because I was unreceptive at the time (see above).
Note that much of what Sitchin concludes is based on the writings, drawings, stelae decorations and cave and tomb contents from a former time. The work is challenged because Sitchin has, of necessity, had to extrapolate within reason, to get where he was led. However, Sitchin has uncovered new truths that are of great importance to humanity. If what appears to be a liberty with the translation of a word leads to real understanding of a vast whole range of material, it is quite reasonable to accept the new translation albeit with a little reservation, for the time being.
The early space travelers, were from the currently unseen Solar orbiting planet Nibiru, according to Sitchin.

Lucretius,
Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Darwin, Einstein and Maxwell put forth ideas that
were, in their times, revolutionary.
Lucretius’ ideas about atomic structure were developed by earlier Greek
theoreticians and did not threaten the ruling elite or seriously
impact orthodoxy and, until the late 1800’s, the ideas could not be tested –
Lucretius turned out to be right.
However, Copernicus’ notion about the non-centrality of the Earth in the
solar system appeared to threaten the authority of the Pope. Knowing this, Copernicus was shrewd enough
to wait to publish his ideas until he was on his deathbed, fearing the certain
negative reaction of the Church.
Naturally, the Catholic Church’s Inquisition immediately set about
crushing the idea directly it got wind of it very soon thereafter.
Galileo was not so lucky. He felt that the simple task of looking into
a telescope would convince the Church of the correctness of the concepts of
satellites flying around planets but he was wrong. Again, the Church immediately set about crushing the ideas and
demeaning and vilifying the man. When
finally proven wrong, it took the Church, to its shame, until the 20th
century to admit its error in that 16th century case and reverse
Galileo’s conviction and sentence.
Newton’s
theories with Einstein’s
modifications made sense of the whole mass of data on planetary motion and
since few institutions were then threatened by Newton’s ideas, they gained
ready acceptance among both the intelligentsia and even the man in the street.
Darwin’s ideas continue to be accepted by most
scholars but rejected by those who believe that their underlying religious
tenets are threatened. Archaeologists
continue to find fossils and other artifacts that prove (within the normal
logical definition of proof) that evolution is a fact. And yet, an undercurrent of disbelief
persists in connection with the evolution of man himself. As we shall soon see, there is an excellent
explanation for this, if the new theory to be presented below is true.
James
Clerk Maxwell, a
Scottish researcher with brilliant mathematical skills was able, with one small
but very profound change of the equations of electricity, to account
dramatically well for the behavior of the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Maxwell’s equations explain the behavior of
radio waves, microwaves, infra-red, visible light, ultraviolet light, X-rays,
Gamma rays and their cosmic ray counterparts.
Maxwell made
one key modification to a critical electricity equation back in the late 1800’s
and the broad sweep of the electromagnetic spectrum was suddenly united by one
remarkable theory. Prior to that time,
electricity understanding began and ended with a basic accounting of the
behavior of static electric charges and the interaction of magnets and coils
carrying steady and slowly fluctuating currents. Maxwell transformed all that and proved that electromagnetic
radiation would be created by any accelerating electrical charge and that
radiation, if free to travel in space, would travel with the invariant speed of
light in free space.
NOW, A NEW IDEA! AND YET IT’S AN OLD ONE. THE IDEA IS THAT ANCIENT RECORDS ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE IDEA THAT EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE SENTIENT BEINGS WERE ON THE EARTH EONS AGO
Here, in
summary form is, the idea that is under investigation:
Space-faring Ancients:Various authors in the 20th century have
suggested that in the period 4,000 to 450,000 years prior to the present,
remarkable sentient beings having extraordinarily long life spans and with
exceptional knowledge of science and technology, who resemble man in almost
every way, roved planet Earth and the Solar System. Those beings (referred to as Elohim, Nefilim, Anunnaki and Igigi)
were domiciled in a remote planet of the Solar System. The Elohim were the leaders of the
group. The beings may be referred to
as the Ancient Astronauts.
The records: Records of the Ancient Astronauts’ actions and outcomes of those
actions come down to us today in the written and pictorial records of those
ancient times. Those records are in
some cases fragmentary and in others, very detailed. At least a part of the record appears to have been deliberately
distorted.
The Niburuan’s need for Gold: The planet from which the Ancient
Astronauts came, was named Nibiru or in the later, apparently, somewhat
distorted text – the Enuma Elish - it was renamed Marduk. Planet Nibiru is in a
very eccentric elliptical solar orbit having a period of 3600 earth years and a
perihelion location possibly within the Earth’s orbital distance from the
sun. Nibiru’s orbit takes the planet to
the coldest outer reaches of the solar system and its life systems rely on
internally generated planetary heat and a volcanic ash-dominated cloud cover to
maintain its temperature and environment.
As volcanic activity declined in recent millennia, metallic gold,
powdered to an extremely fine texture, was found to be needed as an atmosphere
additive to maintain the planet’s temperature control.
Gold available from Earth: Gold is of limited supply in the Solar System, however,
the Nibiruans found the necessary levels of gold for their needs in planet
Earth and set about to get the needed gold from Earth even though it meant long
duration space travel.
Humans Created to help the Anunnaki dig the Gold: As part of their efforts to get the gold from planet Earth to
Nibiru, teams of workers along with designated leaders were sent to Earth. Backbreaking work was associated with mining
the gold from deep mines in the earth and eventually, the Anunnaki workers
brought from Nibiru mutinied. To help
resolve this problem, the team leadership, resident on Earth decided to use DNA
manipulation of the genes of a significantly evolved but still wild ape-like
hominid specie in Africa, not unlike the Nibiruans themselves. This was undertaken about 300,000 years before the present and was
done, using a carefully controlled combination of Elohim genes with that of the
hominid being. The resultant human being
had the capacity to communicate verbally and carry out instructions in the
service of the Elohim/Nefilim.
Humans were adjusted genetically and then flourished: After some genetic adjustments, the newly created human being
propagated broadly and was domiciled in various cities, cities which the new
humans helped build and which he was taught to create and govern for
himself. The Nibiruans continued to
live among man in segregated enclaves.
The Nibiruans received excellent support from the new human workers who
did their appointed tasks very well. In
return, the Nibiruans gave mankind the gift of civilization and established his
societal values, which we continue to esteem, today.
Impending collapse of the Antarctic Icecap: Problems arose from time to time and on
one occasion, approximately 11,000 BC, the Nibiruans, who had been monitoring
the South Polar Icecap, concluded that it would soon collapse at the end of the
last ice age. In the light of their
knowledge and past experience, it was determined that tidal wave associated
with the icecap collapse into the Antarctic Ocean would very likely sweep all
life off the surface of the earth in an event which was closely associated in
time with a perihelion transit of the planet Nibiru.
Great Flood almost wiped mankind off the Earth: Some Elohim, the Nibiruan leadership, viewed the evil associated
with mankind very negatively. Not least
among their concerns was interbreeding of humans with the Nefilim. They therefore decided to allow mankind to
perish in the flood. Since the
Nibiruans could (and did) escape from the impending flood using their flight
vehicles and spacecraft, the loss of humans would be a sad event but not a
total loss for the Nibiruans.
Noah and family saved by oath-breaking Elohim: In spite of an oath among the
Elohim/Nefilim not to warn mankind, Noah, an exalted son of one of the Elohim
by a human female, was surreptitiously given instructions to create a lifeboat
that could survive the onrushing force of water. It is from Noah and his
family, that human life on earth has descended.
There are,
extant, several versions of interpretations of the meanings of the content of
the tens of thousands of ancient clay tablets, papyrus and other scrolls and
stelae and tomb and cave artifacts dating back to the most ancient
civilizations on earth, namely those civilizations which arose and fell in
Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in the 15,000 BC to 4,000
BC time frame.
20TH
CENTURY AUTHORS
Three authors
stand out as pioneers who have popularized the ancient record in the 20th
century. They, and their earliest books
are, Erich von Daniken
(Chariots of the Gods), Immanuel Velikovsky
(Worlds in collision) and Zecharia Sitchin (The 12th
Planet). The often fragmentary record
has led to gaps that each of these authors has taken liberties with to make the
translations and interpretations more comprehensible to the non-scholar
reader. Naturally, such distortions
(usually undocumented) have been played up by the media and supposedly unbiased
scholarly critics and have led to loss of credibility and seriously weakened
the case presented. Most recently,
Zecharia Sitchin has attempted to set the record straight and has drawn some
unique conclusions from his scholarship and studies.
Since the
publication in 1976 of his first book, “The 12th Planet,” Sitchin
has generated a series of books laying out the results of his scholarship. He, too, has his detractors. His seemingly contrived translation of a
number of Sumerian words receives disapproval from the scholarly community
(whose ox has certainly been gored).
However, overall, Sitchin’s writings have the strong ring of truth to
them. Most importantly, archaeological
discoveries progressively support the ancient written record in such texts as
the Bible, the Atra Hasis and Enuma Elish (Sitchin has pointed out that the
Enuma Elish is, basically, a rewriting, even a forging, of earlier ancient
texts with inappropriate emphasis on the contributions of the Babylonian
Elohim, Marduk).
Sitchin’s
explanations of the creation/evolution of humans and the subsequent selective
spread of mankind and related splendid civilizations across the world to Asia,
Africa and Central and South America are based on both written and pictorial
archaeological records. Sitchin takes
care to devise a picture that is very fully supported by the archaeological
records, worldwide, showing the development of civilizations on earth and their
spread from country to country and continent to continent.
The ancient
artifacts on which these ideas are based include clay tablets, scrolls and
stelae and tomb remains dating back to the Sumerian civilizations in
Mesopotamia in the period 2000 to 4000 BC.
The clay and stone tablets were obtained by the hundreds of thousands by
the military arms of the French and British colonial powers in the 19th
century and were brought back to their capital cities for examination by
scholars. The tablets describe the
sweep of events of their civilizations from the trivial (bills of lading and
commerce) to the dramatic - descriptions of the results of the explosion of
extraordinarily powerful weapons – weapons that were capable of slicing the
tops off mountains and vaporizing people.
In the wake of those explosions, there was an “evil wind” (suggesting
chemical warfare agents or atomic radiation fallout) that killed much of the
remaining population of Mesopotamia south of Babylon. Those who died apparently were killed in horrendous ways leaving
corpses lying in the streets piled up, one on another. Other clay tablets and scrolls describe the
technology of mineralogy and mining and metals processing not much different
from that of 20th century businesses for the metals recovery
industries.
Artifacts
including archaeological finds, many from Mesopotamia show drawings that some
of these authors believe, suggest that the leaders of these ancient
civilizations had a remarkable ability to travel airborne at high speeds and to
great heights even to fight battles in the air. Descriptions and in some cases drawings describe and depict
historical events on these 4000 to 6000 years old clay tablets. The depictions are in some cases, similar to
those experienced during our 20th century explorations of air and
space. Many of the clay tablets were
initially translated prior to 1940 by persons with absolutely no knowledge of
space travel or nuclear weapons and for that reason alone, they could not have
done justice to some aspects of their task.
The three
authors Sitchin, Velikovsky and von Daniken, are in agreement with the view
that the ancient writings and artifacts from around the world, strongly suggest
consistency with the idea that thousands of years ago there were ancient space
travelers – humanoid in almost every way - with superb knowledge of technology
and an insatiable desire for gold. Seen
in this light, much of the history of the very ancient world falls into
place. Suddenly, we understand why
there are ancient gold mines in South Africa and South and Central America –
provably 8000 – 12000 years old.
Sitchin and
von Daniken’s studies brought them to the conclusion that humankind was created
by these ancient visitors to help obtain the gold that was needed to satisfy
their needs.
Sitchin has
applied his unique, controversial interpretation of the language of the
documentary materials with direct consistency.
In connection with evolution, Sitchin concludes that the Nefilim
mentioned in the Bible, used advanced medical technology, equivalent or
superior to that practiced today, to create man from a combination of Nefilim
genes and those of a compatible, evolved, pre-human specie roving in the wilds
of Africa. With additional gene inputs
to correct deficiencies in the first version of man, including gene elements
from the ribs of male and female Nefilim, a Nefilim with medical expertise was
able to create humans with the capacity to understand commands, speak
intelligently and procreate.

Sitchin’s ideas, if true, will have remarkable impact. Their stupendous breadth of impact is such
that they make sense of, and provide understanding of, the entirety of human
experience and prehistory through to the earliest roots of existence.

assumption that it is of a real scenario, not a mythical one:

Sitchin’s
ideas sprang from scholarly examination of very ancient writings including
those upon which the Bible draws – writings that date back to the very earliest
times – as long ago as 4th millennium BC. The writings are in Sumerian, Akkadian, Ancient Hebrew and other
languages of the Middle East. Some of
the writings are pictographic in form, others are in characters almost recognizable
by today’s Hebrew-readers. Some of the Middle East writings and drawings and
sculptured reliefs are replicated in unusual places such as in South or Central
American mining areas – areas that seem to date as far back as 4000-8000 BC. They are also found in the Indus valley with
comparable antiquity. Sitchin’s
scholarship presents an excellent review and interpretation of archaeological
finds, documentary materials (often in the form of ancient clay tablets), tomb
contents and stelae – the decorated stelae and architectural columns often show
in picture form, key events of a reign of a ruler in past millennia. A key result of the scholarship is that
space-traveling ancient astronauts visited the Earth as long ago as
450-millennia prior to the present.
Sitchin’s “The
Twelfth Planet” is a good primer to his material. Since that 1976 book, he has generated more than half dozen other
books. Sitchin presented his
scholarship on this subject including a detailed rationale for the view that,
as far back as 450,000 years ago, the Earth was visited by ancient
astronauts. These astronauts were from
another (currently unseen) planet of the solar system named Nibiru. The ancient astronauts were seeking to save
the Nibiruan atmosphere from serious degradation. It had been determined by that planet’s scientists that extremely
finely powdered gold dust pumped into the atmosphere would resolve the problems
associated with heat retention when their planet was in the aphelion region of
its long looping orbit around the sun.
Gold was discovered to be relatively plentiful on Earth by the Nibiruan
explorers and they therefore started a planet Nibiru rescue mission to bring
gold from Earth.
While von
Daniken’s and Velikovsky’s books were widely read, their interpretation of the
ancient texts from which his stories were drawn lacked a critical key, which
would unlock the treasure trove of ideas.
Sitchin, remarkably, appears to have provided that key. It lies in the specifics of the translation
of particular words in the ancient texts.
Sitchin got
started by questioning the Bible story while still at school in Israel. For example, he noted that Genesis (6:4)
reads “There were giants in the earth in those days, and also afterward, when
the sons of God came into the daughters of men, and they bare children unto
them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” Sitchin examined the Hebrew text and
observed that the Hebrew word “Nefilim” was the correct name for the giants of
the Bible and the men of renown were really men of the ‘shem’ – men of the
space-craft. Moreover, according to
Sitchin, the word Nefilim in its original Sumerian text means “those who came
down to earth from heaven” – a point hotly contested by some classical
detractors.
From that
point forwards, Sitchin was unstoppable, he found that the dual meanings of
Sumerian/Akkadian words could lead to remarkably different viewpoints when
translated using alternative definitions.
Terms like airplane, space vehicle, rocket ship and mission control
center, radio and even DNA and memory chip, were, apparently known to the
Nefilim but certainly unknown to the first translators of the clay tablets that
were brought back to the parent countries from the Middle East by the British
and French colonialists in the mid to late 19th century. Some of those special words when correctly
translated (in the Sitchin view) are in the following table and are presented
here for clear reading and reference:

So where does all this lead?
Where
indeed? If the premise is accepted, that
humanity was indeed created by superior beings then there is suddenly no
dispute between the ‘Creationists’ and the ‘Evolutionists.’ That’s wonderful! However, if the purpose of the creative act was to produce a serf-type
individual, who would work for his Lord, then that is another matter. Another possibility is that certain traits
favorable to befitting man for the acts of service required of the situation
would likely have been included in his genetic makeup.
What is an appropriate
course of action for the intelligent individual? These subjects, too, have been addressed by various thinkers, one
of whom is Neil Freer. In his book “Breaking the Godspell” (The Book
Tree, Escondido, CA, 1987) Freer discusses the consequences of accepting the
view of ancient astronauts as a fact.
This is not a great problem for the man in the street or, for that
matter for the scholar. Scholars
–Christian, Jewish and Islamic – have, for a century, known about many of the
above facts relating to the key Nefilim characters such as the Gods Enki and
Enlil and their dozens of God-level siblings and progeny.
Within the
Sitchin picture, it becomes clear that mankind was created 300,000 years ago as
an intelligent serf or slave by the Nefilim.
The creation of man was intended to facilitate gathering of gold for
export back to planet, Nibiru. Sitchin
points out that the word ‘worship’ derives from ‘work’ – the original function
of the human race, work, that is, for the purpose of relieving the Annunaki
from the backbreaking task of recovering the gold from the ground and
transporting it across the earth and in some cases across the oceans to the
spaceports wherefrom it was destined for Nibiru. Subsequently, humans were also needed in the Edin (Eden) part of
Mesopotamia for ‘tilling the earth’, growing the crops and tending the flocks
to produce good fresh food for the resident Anunnaki/Nefilim.
We may also
note that the Nefilim continually refer to the rules of fate and destiny and,
more rarely, to ‘The Creator of All.’
The Nefilim were remarkably similar to man in respect of psychology with
traits varying from valor and dominance to pouting in defeat and to vengefulness
and cunning as well as remarkable creativeness. Godliness is a trait, which the Nefilim wanted to see in man as
he worshiped the Nefilim, they did not necessarily respect it as an attribute
that they, the Nefilim, should themselves have.
As indicated
above, Sitchin’s ideas are often based on fragmentary translations and in some
cases he appears to rely on quite far-fetched translations. Some resulting ideas are, in some cases,
testable and the tests need to be made and corrections or dismissal of the
theories accomplished as applicable.

and look upon these ideas with that necessary level of awareness appropriate to
new research. There could be
