General Information
The North Jersey Astronomical Group (NJAG) is an astronomy club composed of about fifty amateur astronomers interested in all aspects of stargazing.
Meetings
The NJAG's business meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:00 p.m. at Montclair State University, in Richardson Hall, Room 226. These meetings are open to the public and prospective members. Each meeting features light refreshments and a short lecture/slide presentation by an amateur or professional astronomer.
Activities
NJAG holds public star parties on the college campus in front of Richardson Hall, the Science and Mathematics Building, just east of the Student Center. These star parties allow club members and guests a chance to observe many sky objects and to compare telescopes and accessories. Several members are avid astrophotographers, subjects of which include comets, galaxies, star clusters, nebular, and other astronomical objects.
Astronomy Day in the spring is actively supported by NJAG with educational programs for the public to encourage the interest and involvement in amateur astronomy. The monthly meetings with their astronomy lecturers also provides an educational avenue into astronomy to both the membership and the interested general public.

Other Items of Interest
Montclair State University has a rather unique solar sculpture. During most of the year it casts an interesting, but modern-artsy, shadow on the ground. However, twice a year when the sun is in the proper position, Ophiuchus appears.
