General Information
NJAA was founded
in 1965 by a group of seven amateur astronomers wishing to build and use
a major telescope. Today the Paul H. Robinson Observatory at Vorhees State
Park houses a 26-Inch newtonian telescope, and the membership currently
numbers over 200 sky watchers.
Meetings
Monthly member meetings,
to which the public is invited,
are held the fourth Saturday of the month at 8:30 p.m. at the Robinson Observatory
in Vorhees State Park, High Bridge, in Hunterdon County, NJ.
Activities
The Robinson Observatory is open to the public each Saturday evening, and Sunday
afternoon from May through October, in addition to the fourth Saturday evening meeting
nights. Visitors are invited to view the heavens through the telescope
(weather permitting) and enjoy video, slide or lecture presentations on
a variety of astronomical topics.

Other Items of Interest
The club is involved in a meteor observing program which is run in a cooperative
partnership with NAMN (North American Meteor Network), the ALPO Meteor
Section, and the IMO.
A Qualified Observers Course is available for members who wish to become
proficient on the 26-Inch telescope.
