My interest in collecting antique astronomy books was derived from my interest
in the history of astronomy and the desire to get a truer picture of
the thoughts of those
who have come before and not having to hear them filtered by some current day
writer. My collection begins with a publication from 1561 up to the 1930s
and consists of about 300 volumes, the majority being from the mid-1800s.
With my interest in the History of Women in Astronomy I have also collected
many having women authors, as well as biographies from the period about women
astronomers. My oldest astronomy book authored by a woman is dated 1797.
