Awards

Every year NIPHLE provides us the opportunity to nominate and recognize persons who have contributed to the disciplines embracing packaging, handling, or logistics. Past recipients have come from industry, academia, and government (both civilian and defense activities). They represent folks that have pushed the envelope of efficiency, innovation, and knowledge. So, as this year’s chairman, I ask you to take some time from your busy schedules to nominate a worthy candidate. Your nomination does not have to be long or greatly detailed; just sufficient to provide the review committee enough information to make an appropriate decision among the nominees. Below I have provided some general information. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.

Nominations must state the field in which the nominee is to be judged and include the name, address, phone number, and employer and position title of both the nominee and the nominator. Sufficient detailed information about the nominee's accomplishment must be provided to allow the judges to score the nominee without additional research to obtain information about the type and value of his or her accomplishments.

There are 4 award categories: One award in each of the disciplines cited above and a special award category known as the John C. Wilford Memorial Award. It is given to that individual to recognize their longtime support of the packaging field and their support of NIPHLE.

Eligibility Requirements

Any individual in the packaging, materials handling, or logistics fields may be nominated, whether or not a member of NIPHLE. Anyone may nominate candidates, except members of the Awards Committee. Judging is based on the nominee's total contribution to the field rather than a specific project or period of time. A copy of the nomination, complete with supporting documentation, should be mailed to the Chairperson, Awards Committee, National Institute of Packaging, Handling and Logistics Engineers, 177 Fairsom Court, Lewisburg, PA 17837-6844. Please note we need your responses back by April 2, 2007! The selection committee needs enough time to make their selection and notify the successful candidates. The awards will be presented at the NIPHLE Training Conference, Fort Walton Beach, FL, May 14-17 2007.
