Favorite Team Pennants from the 1950's and early 1960's

  • Boston Red Sox of Ted William's era. Ted retired in 1960.

  • Baltimore Orioles began in 1954 at Memorial Stadium. Here is the earlier, "fat" bird.
  • Kansas City Athletics played from 1955 to 1967.The grey ruff textured pennant suggests elephant skin! Catfish Hunter began there in 1965.

  • Fightin' Phillies, after the 1950 World series.
  • The Washington Senators moved to become the Minnesota Twins in 1961. HOFer Harmon Killebrew was notable in those early years.
  • HOFers Ermie Banks and Billy Williams made the Cubs famous in the '60s.

  • Los Angeles Angels' inaugural pennant, 1961. They became the California Angels in 1966 and the Anaheim Angels in 1997.
  • St. Louis Cardinals
  • San Francisco Giants were formed in 1958 as the New York team left the Polo Grounds for Seal Stadium. Notable players were Mays, McCovey, Marichal and Perry.

  • Cleveland Indians pennant holders saw HOFers Lemon and Wynn play.
  • The Go-Go Chicago White Sox won the AL pennant in 1959.
