Store History

There it was! Mister Jewelry as it looked back in 1981 shortly after being opened.

This store, opened by founder and owner David Mister and his now late father William Mister (who sold wood work items) was located on Princess Anne Rd., across the street from Kempsville Plaza. David had been doing jewelry repair out of his garage for a while already after having worked at his Grandfather's (and later uncle's) store (Barker And Son, in Norfolk) as a young man for several years.

In 1982 David opened Mister Jewelry And Watch Repair with his brother, watchmaker Tom Mister, owner of Dashto Horrological Services. In 1983 Tom moved across the street to the Providence Square Shopping Center opening Dashto Jewelers (which he ran there until 1996), and David stayed at the store in Farfield for around 7 years.

March 1st, 1989 Mister Jewelry was opened in the Kempsriver Center shopping center. We have been here now for 10 years! May God bless us with many more years in the Kempsville area.
