        Provider Biographies

       
        David C. Giammittorio, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. is the founder and managing partner of the Collaborative Practice.  He is a graduate of the University of Richmond and the Medical College of Virginia.  His internship was at M.C.V. and his residency at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C.  Board certified and with twenty years experience, he is an acknowledged expert in natural childbirth an an area authority on the use of midwifery in collaborative practice.

        Mary E. Cutting, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. has been in practice since 1984.  She attended medical school at the University of Virginia, and completed her residency at Georgetown University Hospital.  She is board certified and has been in private practice for over fifteen years.

        Habibollah Ahdoot, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. was educated at the University of Tehran Medical College and completed his residency at the Washington Hospital Center.  He is board certified and has delivered thousands of babies at Alexandria Hospital over the last twenty-five years.

        Lalitha Rambhala, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.  was educated at Gunter Medical College and completed her residency at Howard University Hospital.  She is board certified and has been delivering babies at Alexandria Hospital for seven years.

        Anne Kisthardt, M.D.  attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed her residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.  She worked with the Adler group in Lake Ridge prior to joining us in July.

        Andrea M. Jackson, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.  graduated from Tuft's University and Duke University School of Medicine.  Her residency training was completed at the George Washington University Medical Center.  Dr. Jackson maintained a solo practice in Alexandria for eleven years before coming to the group in January 2000.  Her special interests include integrating alternative and traditional therapies for the prevention and treatment of a wide range of women's diseases.  She is trained in both high and low risk obstetrics.

        Catherine B. Armstrong, MS, CNM received her diploma in nursing from Mercy Hospital of Nursing in 1968. Married to an Army pilot, she worked in various nursing positions in Europe and the United States gaining experience in maternal and childcare nursing.   Catherine returned to the United States in 1988 and enrolled at Georgetown University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1992 and her Masters of Science in Nurse-Midwifery in 1995.

        Karen B. Gonzales, MS, CNM received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1971 at the University of Virginia.  She worked as a labor and delivery nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Colorado and received a Masters of Science in Maternal-Child Health from the University of Colorado in 1977.  Karen moved to Virginia in 1980 and worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Alexandria Hospital for eleven years.  She left the hospital in 1991 and enrolled at Georgetown University where she received her Masters of Science in Nurse-Midwifery in 1994.

        Patricia L. Jackson, MS, CNM received her diploma in nursing from Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. Pat earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 1980.  She was a school nurse in West Germany for three years before returning to school and receiving her Masters of Science in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Georgia State University in 1987.  Pat enrolled at Georgetown University while working as a family nurse practitioner and earned her Masters of Science in Nurse-Midwifery in 1994.

        Susan L. Lee, MS, CNM received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University in Boston in 1977.  She worked as a labor and delivery nurse during a commission in the United States Air Force.  After leaving the Air Force in 1986, Sue worked in labor and delivery at Sibley, Arlington and Reston Hospitals.  She also held several teaching positions in OB-GYN and taught prepared childbirth classes for several years.  Sue returned to school and earned her Masters of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from Georgetown University in 1997.

        Amy A. Nathans, MS, CNM received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at American University in 1985.   Amy worked as an urgent care nurse and as a quality management specialist for a staff model HMO until returning to school and earning her Masters of Public Health in 1991 from Johns Hopkins University.  Amy held a position at the Office of Maternal and Child Health as a public health analyst until 1992 when she enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania and earned her Masters of Science in Nurse-Midwifery in 1993.  Amy worked as a staff midwife at Dimension OB-GYN Associates in Maryland until coming to work for the Physician and Midwife Collaborative Practice in 1998.

        Patrice Valle, MS, CNM received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Northeastern University in 1978 and her Masters of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Minnesota in 1983.  She has more than fifteen years experience as a nurse midwife and more than sixteen hundred deliveries to her credit.  Raised in San Antonio, Patrice speaks fluent Spanish.
