Hank co-wrote "Jambalaya" (on the Bayou)" with Moon Mullican, one of the first singer-pianists in country music … Mullican received 50 percent of the royalties on "Jambalaya" surreptitiously, because he was under contract to King Records and its publishing division, Lois Music.  He tried hard to get off King, even to the point of getting Jim Denny (Grand Ole Opry manager) to intercede with King on his behalf, but no one got out from under a King Records contract.      (pg. 196-7)
