“EL FANDI” COMPETED AND FINISHED THE NEW YORK MARATHON-2008 (M.C.)
On Sunday November 2
Spanish matador David Fandila “El Fandi”
participated in and completed the well-known New York City Marathon.
This marathon is one of the
world's great road races and it , that attracts many world-class professional
athletes as well as amateur runners who compete not only for more than $600,000
in prize money, but for the personal thrill of crossing the finish line in
Central Park before the eyes of millions of television viewers. “El Fandi” gave
yet another proof of his athletic skill by finishing the race in 5 hours, 13
minutes and 24 seconds. This should not be a surprise to any aficionado who has
seen the man from Granada running in font of the bulls when placing banderillas
in the ring. The matador was accompanied in the race by his brother Juan Alvaro and by sword handler Rufo Delgado. The three runners wore t-shirts saying "El Fandi: 111 corridas & 1 maratón".

THE FILM “MANOLETE” TO DEBUT IN SPAIN IN
FEBRUARY (M.C.)
According to Canal TCM and after numerous problems before, during and after shooting, the opening night of ‘Manolete’ with Adrian Brody and Penelope Cruz will finally take place in february 2009. The film which cost 20 million euros can be seen in Spanish cinemas one year and six months after the original date which was to coincide with the 60 anniversary of the death of the torero in Linares. It was cancelled four times for different reasons.
After solving post-production problems of scenes that needed digital editing –
like the scenes involving bulls - Lolafilms, the production- company ran into
serious financial trouble because of judicial proceedings about the solving of
debts.
Once these are solved and if all goes well, the film should open in the first
trimester of 2009.
