"Enough chit-chat, Dad. It's time for me to head for home."

A few moments later, and Cody's almost out of sight.

Outside Foxfire, forge on the left and workshop/cabin on the right, coal pile on the right foreground.

Cody in his cabin checking his schedule for Friday and Saturday. He only gets one day off a week. The rodent proof crate to his left contains clothes, and about 2 lbs of brownies.

Standing on the box, looking toward Cody's right, the two bunks and his table. Cozy.

Blacksmith Cody giving a safety demonstration…using two rusty and VERY sharp scythe blades.

Cody and THOR, the biggest hammer in the shop.

Cody and his forge.

Below the forge and cabin, Cody's thinking stone, thinking log, and river.

"A crew asked me for ideas for a service project. Here's the dam they built me."

"Here's what I get to look to and listen to every day and night. Uncle Ray would be jealous."

Cody with a picture of his "Ma and Pa".

A close-up of "Ma and Pa".

Cody demonstrating the closest thing he has to a lock for his cabin…a piece of string and block of wood.

From the front porch looking at the forge.

The last week of May this year, I got a letter from the director of Lenhok'sin (BSA high adventure camp outside Goshen, Virginia) asking if I knew of any Scouts who were looking for a summer job. As a matter of fact, I did know of one. On the downside, this was the last chance we'd have to go on an outing with the Scouts of Troop 1501, Scouts he's been with since 1997. On the plus side, I don't remember when I've seen him happier. He has tons of responsibility, lots of freedom and fresh air, and coworkers who respect him.
He's planning to work at Lenhok'sin for the season, until the week of August 21st. He's planning on attending a local community college this fall. It will be great to have him back home.
