Lynne and Ray visit 20030604-11 My sister and brother-in-law come for a visit...and one of our trees notices their departure.

You may have noted the rather odd user name, magi. It's a play on words. You see, on our last tour with the Air Force we were the three Waisanens (wise' - nuns) from the East traveling west. The pun stuck.
In case you were wondering, there are perhaps three reasons for returning to the DC area after retiring from the Air Force:

  1. Church: We love our church family at the Lutheran Church of the Abiding Presence . We really enjoy sharing in the traditions we've helped initiate like Advent Friends, the annual scale model of the church in gingerbread (front Front of edible Abiding Presenceand back Back of edible Abiding Presence)* complete with edible stained glass windows, and baking "praygels" (pretzel-shaped bagels) for Reformation Sunday (if we're not camping).
  2. Education: Dad sometimes teaches for the ISSE department at the George Mason University .
  3. Job opportunities: Dad was a consultant at Concert through our company, MAGI, Inc. but now is an employee of Computer Sciences Corp in support of British Telecom. Hasn’t changed jobs or location but was made to understand that CSC was not interested in keeping contractors.
  4. Scouting: Dad and son are active in Scouting, particularly backpacking . Son is especially fond of creating seemingly impossible-to-cook meals (for example, chicken cordon bleu over a campstove).
  5. Nature: The woods and wildlife of Virginia are full of life like the Junco that comes to our bird feeder.
  6. History: We're close to our Nation's capitol.
