PARSONAGE

The property at 111 Clyde Avenue was purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Shatz on April 19, 1955, at a cost of $8,000. This property was purchased for use as a parsonage; but since Reverend Von Hagel had his own home in Baltimore Highlands, the house was rented. In March of 1960 a fire, caused by hazardous wiring, destroyed the garage. By 1961 the Sunday School attendance had grown so that more space was required. Tenants in the Clyde Avenue house were asked to move, and the property was converted to the Sunday School Annex. The minister's office was moved to the second floor of this building. When Sunday School attendance dropped in the late sixties, the annex was converted to a parsonage. The loan made in July of 1967 was mainly for repairs to the parsonage, and by October of 1967 the minister was able to move in. In 1973, the parsonage was again rented until September of 1974 when the building was once again used as a parsonage.
