Astovek's Gold Running Tips
If you're looking to do a simple, well thought out gold run in under 10 minutes with a yield of somewhere 'round 10-20 diamonds here's what ya do...
First off, find a merchant that has a lot of gold on him, you never want to go under MG unless you don't have any other options. My favorite place to hit up is the Pill counter in DI (gate snapper joe). Due to the high value of these pills, that counter is usually stocked up with gold from other players buying pills and such. If ya don't wanna go there Cadash (the Kal Stone guy) occassionally has massive amounts of money on him and he purchases at cost.
A third rather nice merchant is Cyric (Magic Bag Guy) in Chaos. Due to the fact that warriors don't get detection and the massive popularity of the "There" potion, he also carries a large amount of gold, but be warned, Chaos is no recall, so only go there if you know there area.
Okay, so you're at the merchant (other than the Chaos guy cause you gotta do the summoning first before you go there), which mobs do you summon? Well you want easy gold mobs, so I suggest the following:
c sum mahn (make sure you have detects on)
c sum diana
c sum grand pala
c sum grand mist
c sum derrick
c sum jacklyn
If you can charm it makes it a lot easier, you can charm the mob and order it to remove all and sell all of its eq lightening your load a fair amount. Just make sure ya kill em after you're done with em so they repop.
The only thing those merchants don't accept is weapons, I still have yet to find a place for them.
Okay, so now you've done that, hold onto the rings and the emerald stuff from the grand mistress, it can be sold at the jeweler in MG.
So you've sold everything, now what do you do? Well you can go back to whatever you were doing/want to do or you can continue. You gotta coupla options. You can wait for those mobs to repop and sell it at DIFFERENT merchant (selling multiple items to the same Merchant de-values the items being sold) or you can just go smack up another diamond running place.
The limiting factor here is your level. Mahn-Tor is good for everyone, but I've never done a run there. Cavern of Hero's is also another good place, kill everything, sell everything. If it can't be sold as armor chances are you can sell it at the jeweler or in the Mystic's Shop. If you're hero, well you have more options, for example You can go and kill Dunbar and sell his Tiara (sells for approx 120 gold) and its easy to do. You can also go to The Woman Of The Sun in Wormwood but I don't recommend that unless you can flee/bs.
You can also go to Hell and kill the lawyer and maintence guys and the reactor workers, Yellow jumpsuits get a fair amount of money same with the lawyer teeth and photon-displacment matrix. By that time the easy summoning mobs should have repop'd and you can do that again or you can go to the Sea of the Undead and kill the Evil One (Not recomended for anyone under 80, takes too long). You can also summon the High Mage dudes but those are a little too popular.
Oh yeah, if you gate to coins to get to Hell, kill coins and the bar then go south and kill the Guardian guys they carry bout 50 gold each. If you go into Chaos and you're above level 60, take out Stephen - the kilt and sword he has sell for a large sum of gold. If you do all this, it takes about 40-60 minutes to do, (mind you this is the time for a hero warrior) and has a yield of around 50-100 diamonds.
And another tip, if you buy something from a merchant (pills, potions) try to sell the guy back something (like a silver plate or something) to minimize the losses you have gotten from purchasing from him
Well I think thats about it. If ya can, its also nice to stack your commands when you're selling so all you have to do is type in a word such as sjew (short for sell jeweler) and all the items from the run you just did that can be sold to the jeweler get sold. Saves you time from peering into your inventory to see what you're carrying on you.
