Communications
An interactive "Touch Screen" communication terminal facilitates the transaction and provides renters, and non renters, with maps, directions, and local attraction information. The owner / operator may also access setup and report features on site or via remote computer.Security & Maintenance
The Bike Station is designed to function outdoors, and is weather resistant.As for the bicycles, The Bike Station bicycles have nonstandard parts, anti-puncture tires, anti-rust paint, and a chain guard. The bicycles are designed to be durable and nearly impervious to harm.
Two Bike Station Versions
Single Bike Station: This version operates in a stand alone setting, and enables customers to rent and return the bicycle to the same machine. The Single Bike Station will be most popular at hotel and resort sites.
Network Bike Station: The Bike Station Network will operate hundreds of rental bicycles, in major cities, as an alternative mode of transportation designed to accommodate short trips. The network will allow commuters, for example: to rent a bicycle at the train station and return it at the office building.

The bicycle rental industry is a thriving and profitable business. It offers a very quick return on a low investment, minimal maintenance, and most importantly - reusability. In this market the average rental price is between $0.75 - $1.50 per trip (trip = 15 minute rental), and $21 for a monthly pass with unlimited use. The Bike Station owner / operator can customize the rental rates to the particular area.
Bike Station bicycles can display advertisement on the wheels and the frame of each bicycle. Similar to other public transportation vehicles like buses, trains, and taxis the public bicycles distribute the advertisement all over town. The difference is that bicycles create a positive reaction (health, fun, cool) and are environmentally friendly.
