The annual Oratorical contest will take place at 7:00 pm on January 18, 2007 in our Blue and Gold Room. The inclement weather date will be January 25th.
Four area High Schools participate in this event, which is designated to enhance the student's knowledge of the United States Constitution as well the participant's speaking skills. The winner of the Post's contest, if successful, will then go on to the District, State, and National. Prize money is awarded at each level of competition. The big money prize however, is at the National level, where the winner is awarded $18,000.
Parkville American Legion has had three National winners. No other Post in the Nation has ever been able to accomplish this. The public is invited to attend.
