If you served in the military in the War, Navy, or Defense Departments between September 2, 1945 and December 26, 1991, you could be eligible for a Cold War Service Certificate. This is an Official Recognition Certificate from the 1998 National Defense Authorization Act.
In order to obtain it, you will need a copy of your DD-214 with your Social Security Number or Military Service Number and your current mailing address. You may FAX it to (703)275-6749 or 1 (800)723-9262. You may also mail it to Cold War Recognition; 4035 Ridge Top Road; Suite 400; Fairfax, VA 22030.
There is a medal and ribbon for this award. Currently, there is a charge of $18.50, but there is speculation that after the first of the year, this medal will be provided at no charge.
Several members of the Post have received the Certificate and it looks
impressive.
