This Gibson Page is lovingly dedicated to the memory of my parents, Mary Dovie Belcher(Smith)Gibson and Tony Lee Gibson. Mary was born January 28, 1902 in Sneedville, Tennessee. Her parents were Caroline Baker(Belcher)born Oct. 15, 1867 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky and McClelan Belcher born 1866, Lee County, Virginia. Caroline’s parents were Wallen W. Baker, born Sept. 9, 1837, Tennessee and Sidney Warren(Baker).

Caroline’s husband, McClelan Belcher, was killed when my mother, Mary, was quite young. Caroline worked in Stonega, Va. at a boarding house for miners. Mary ran away at the age of 13 to marry Fred Smith, a miner . They had four children; Fred was killed when the children were young and Mary met another miner, Tony Lee Gibson, born March 10, 1899. Tony’s parents were John Calvin Gibson, born Sept. 11, 1871, Kentucky and Olivia Miles. Tony and Mary married in 1927 and they had four children.

Mary’s children by Fred Smith were Edgar Smith, born Sept. 17, 1917, died May 6, 1991; Litten Smith, Roxie Smith(Mabe) and Maxey Smith(Lawson). Mary’s children by Tony Gibson were Christine Gibson(Addison), born April 18, 1930, died Sept. 3, 1997; Evelyn Gibson, Fred Gibson, born Nov. 19, 1935, died July 27, 1995 and me(Navada Gibson(Heflin).

Edgar Smith married (lst)Bertha Christian and (2nd)Betty Jo Trent. Edgar and Bertha had Barbara Smith and Dennis Smith. Litten Smith married Thelma Ackers. Their children were Shirley , Zola and Steven Smith. Roxie Smith married Clint Mabe, Jr. Their children were Randy, Donnie and Dana Mabe. Maxey Smith married (lst)Walter Tomlinson and (2nd) Bill Lawson. Maxey and Walter had one son, Larry Tomlinson. Maxey and Bill had Stuart and Rodney Lawson. Christine Gibson married Arvil Addison and their children were Roger, Ronnie, Scott, Daryl and Donna Addison. Evelyn Gibson didn’t marry. Fred Gibson married Faye Levy(Lemon). They raised Melody Lemon, daughter of Faye and her first husband. Navada Gibson married James Randolph Heflin. Their children were James Randolph, Jr. and Jeffrey Douglas Heflin.
