The Butcher of Ruthenia is not based on an actual game chronicle -- instead, it reveals, over a series of independent stories, some of the backstory of Jovan Ruthven, one of our oldest central characters. It also presents an important period of Cainite history -- the bloodwar that raged between the ancient Houses of Clan Tzimisce and the ambitious usurpers of Clan Tremere. The bloodwar, and the inter-house rivalries that even the invasion of their cherished homeland could not defuse, decimated the Tzimisce - and the rebellion of their younger generations did the rest.

Here is the story begun with Immortal Coils, of a Zantosa courtier turned Tzimisce warrior-koldun, charged with the front-line defense of his Sire's possessions in a deadly conflict, and his struggle to fulfill his duty to his House and still maintain a grip on his own once-human soul -- the same Tzimisce who will one night earn the epithet "The Butcher of Ruthenia."
