Dynamic Fonts allow your
browser to display a font you do not have installed on your computer,
by accessing a temporary font file that is embedded in the website.
You will not be required to download or install the font to your
computer. However, you may need to tell your browser that it's
okay to display the dynamic fonts if they're available.
- In
Netscape:
- Netscape versions 4.0
or higher come with the ability to view Dynamic Fonts already
installed. However, you may need to change your display settings
to activate it.
- Click on Edit,
and go to Preferences
Under Preferences, click on Fonts.
You'll see three options for default fonts; select
Use document-specified fonts, including
Dynamic Fonts.
Click OK.
- In
Internet Explorer:
- Internet Explorer does
not have the Dynamic Fonts player plug-in installed; you will
have to download it. When you encounter a page with dynamic fonts,
IE will ask you if you want to download the plug-in. Say yes.
You only need to do this once. Bitstream,
the company that makes the plug-in, is still looking into the
difficulties IE has with recognizing certain fonts (including
the one this page is set in), even with the plug-in installed.
If the fonts do not appear in the fancy calligraphic version,
they will at least appear in your browser's default font.
