And if the tales told here do not always concur with the explanations sires give to their ignorant modern childer...well, the reader is reminded that history has always been written by those holding the power to do so.

These stories were created in email and chat chronicles over several years, and are still ongoing. New chapters are always being explored at various points along the timeline, up through the present day. They were inspired by a fascination with history and enriched by a great deal of research into the cultures and periods portrayed.

All this historical delving was not done solely in the cause of accuracy, however; it was also crucial to understanding, as best we mortals may, that which truly makes old vampires Elders...their pasts. Pasts full of old loves, old agonies, fears, memories, battles won and lost, all the places they've lived, all the other people, both living and undead, that they've known, all the blood spilled and savored, years upon years upon countless years of the endless, eternal night.

Being an Elder is not about Blood Pool, or Discipline dots, or generation. It is about memories, maturity, experiences, and, against all odds, (especially when one's greatest natural enemy is another of one's own kind)... survival.
